Fabulous FAIR Friday!

If you live within photoshooting distance from us, you know the Iowa State Fair is going on right now. What a great place to spend some time (and $$) this weekend!

My Fair Lady (1964)

This isn't a fair movie -- it's a GREAT movie.  Audrey Hepburn at her BEST in this classic, intelligent, witty musical!  And the costumes & hats are super-photo-worthy!

State Fair (1962)

This is a movie about the Iowa State Fair so it has to make the list.

Trivia buffs:  What was the name of the big boar in the movie?

 

Trivia Answer:  Blueboy -- and he was love-sick.     

So Long At The Fair (1951)

Jean Simmons looking for her missing brother at the 1889 Paris Exhibition.  This movie is on my to-watch list and it gets high marks from others that love a good mystery. 

Meet Me In St Louis (1945)

A FAVORITE of mine!  I've watched it at least 20 times -- mostly with the grandkids (often with Grandpa too).  Judy Garland sings her way through the seasons.  Literally, the seasons:  The movie is four little vignettes representing summer, fall (our favorite), winter, spring.  

The climax (sort of):  The 1904 St Louis World's Fair.

Hi guys!  Nicole here with another awesome edition of FABULOUS FRIDAY!!!   

So I was wracking my brain about what fabulousness I should bring you this Friday.  And since I LOVE to listen to music while I work I figured I would bring you my FIVE Fabulous Friday songs....

So if you don't already know this about me, I LOVE worship songs.  Seriously LOVE.  I don't listen to blood-pumping-beat-kicking music on my long runs....NOPE....I seriously listen to partially instrumental.  Slow and serene worship music.  I love running through trails and listening to songs about my Creator at the same time!  It's an awesome and uplifting experience!

Fabulous Friday | Trends of the Season

Hey guys! Nicole here with this week's FAB-U-LICIOUS five things!  I am so excited this week to share some recent trends that are really knocking my socks off!  So are you ready for all the fabulousness that is about to ensue? 

Fabulous Trends

5. Peekaboo Highlights.  For real, this is my FAVORITE hair color treatment at the moment.  And I have gone through a LOT of hair colors and styles.  LOVE the highlights (or lowlights) that pop out underneath that top layer of hair!  I have it subtly in my hair but am doing it much bolder next time I color my hair.   What do you think of this hair trend???

4.  Leggings under dresses.  I think I would wear this everyday if I had enough leggings and dresses.  And yes, I DID steal my 13 year old daughter's dress and rock it over leggings the other day.  No shame here.  I love the look and since I have...ohhhhh....ONE pair of shorts (that aren't athletic shorts) that I cut off from jeans (classy, I know!) this style is right up my alley!!!

 

3.  Neon Pink!  Probably NOT the BEST choice for your family photos, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE the color.  It's so fun and bright and looks great as an accessory for that extra pop of color!!!

2. Fossil Purses.  Ohhhhh be still my heart.  I LOVE Fossil Brand purses and if I could afford all of them, I would  buy and love each and every one!  They are the epitome of my style. 

1. Chunky Earrings.  I have always ALWAYS loved chunky dangling earrings.  USUALLY silver, but bronze and gold are growing on me!  Love how they make me feel like my outfits are complete!

Fabulous Friday

 

Hey everyone! Nicole here from Urban Wings Art! So I am going to admit something that I would rather not admit to my husband. I am TERRIBLE at making jokes. But I am easily humored. Like, way, way to easily. I laugh REALLY loud and try to come up with great comebacks. But always end up sounding pretty pathetic. And that makes me laugh. So I guess my goal was accomplished anyway. My husband is FUNNY. Like, awesome comebacks EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. funny. And my oldest daughter, well she obviously takes after him, cause she rocks with quick witted humor. And me....yep, still laughing and TRYING to come up with something clever. So today I am bringing you the top 5 FABULOUS things that I find funny, awesome, or as my daughter would say....SWAGALICIOUS! 

 5. SWAGALICIOUS. The word. I love it. Although I will admit the constant use of it by my teenager drives me crazy. Swag. Swag. Swag. First time I even came across this great word? A few years ago with Toyota's Swagger Wagon commercial. I died laughing when I saw this for the first time. Can any of you mama's relate??? 

4. Almond Milk. My new love. Seriously. I count my calories. I count them as they climb REALLY REALLY high some days. But usually I am pretty good about watching what I eat. And I recently made the *ahem* depressing switch from sweet, fake, horrible for you, coffee mate flavor creamers to whole milk in my coffee. Until I met Almond Milk.....30 calories per cup PEOPLE! It was love at first sip! My coffee and I love us some almond milk! 

3. Baby teeth. My littlest is 14 months old and has these serious rabbit tooth chompers. Just two. Popping out of his lower gums. He has 4 teeth on top, but they are nothing compared to the adorableness of those two little rabbit teeth. But keep fingers...and every other part of your body that you value AWAY. He will bite. He is like a rabid squirrel. And it HURTS!  

 2. Crazy socks. I own MAYBE 4 pairs of white socks. And they are all sports socks. The rest of my drawer of socks is purple polka dots. Black and gray stripes. Red stripes with Paul Frank Santa Clause monkeys. Black with Christmas lights. Plum and gray striped.....etc. And the newest addition. NEON YELLOW RUNNING SOCKS! Boooooo yaaaaa! I can't wait to rock those!!!  

 1. INSTAGRAM. Hello, my name is Nicole. And I am an instagram addict. Seriously. I am one of those sad folks that look at my dinner plate and think. Yes, yes, I SHOULD instagram this picture for all my millions of followers to see. Okay, so maybe that is why I actually DON'T have millions of followers.
